Bug out bag

A bag by any other name is still a bag to grab to survive for three days. So the question becomes, what’s in it? Let’s take a look at some ideas and how they pertain to you and your life. The first question is “Where do you live?” What’s the environment? Terrain? Closest civilization? City? All of these things are going to play a role in what kind of bag and what you might pack in it.

Is it better to purchase a bag already packed for you, likehttps://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B09CDCPCF9/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=9325&creativeASIN=B09CDCPCF9&linkCode=as2&tag=keyinnerprise-20&linkId=2fa7ab010c57443032a7e7cce0bef7da">Emergency Survival Kit and First Aid Kit, 142Pcs Professional Survival Gear and Equipment with Molle Pouch, for Men Camping Outdoor Adventure (Green)https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B09CDCPCF9/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=9325&creativeASIN=B09CDCPCF9&linkCode=as2&tag=keyinnerprise-20&linkId=2fa7ab010c57443032a7e7cce0bef7da">Emergency Survival Kit and First Aid Kit, 142Pcs Professional Survival Gear and Equipment with Molle Pouch, for Men Camping Outdoor Adventure (Green) this one? I find them sturdy and efficient. I like the array of pockets and zippers and places to hide things with the waterproof features, adjustable waistbelt and radio pocket I just think this design is great. You can get it in a variety of colors depending on your environment.

I live on a mountain surrounded by trees so I tend to go with these colors, greens and browns or light or white in winter. I find dark bags great for urban areas. Your goal here is to blend into your environment, think gray man here. You don’t want anyone looking at you twice or thinking you have supplies or can lead them to supplies.

The Grey Bearded Green Beret has a great video on building your own ultralight bug out bag. Personally I feel like a lot is situational but a good base might be:

  • a good universal knife
  • firestarter kit (this can be homemade or bought)
  • light source (candles, solar light, flashlight etc)
  • water purifier
  • emergency blanket
  • change of undergarments and socks
  • paracord
  • multitool

These are all changeable but I think you get the idea. I have found great bags and tools at army suplus and thrift stores. Keep your eye out where ever you are and you will run into something you just have to have for your prepping. Every choice is personal to each of us. Sharing what works best for us helps other find what works best for them too. What is in your bug out bag?

More than a dating site

Hands coming together

Survivalist Singles was created by Brittani with a family business in mind. Brittani enlisted the help of her father to figure out how to create a dating site for preppers and those of like minds. Working together as a team, helping each other when the other lacks, I take up the slack and he codes where I can’t. When we are working as a team we don’t have to be great at everything but only do our best together. This is my vision for business and family. After all, the biggest lesson I took from business school was that the business model is formed after the family model. How beautiful is that!?

I still find this mindset relative to this site as well as my life. Most of us want a partner to share our lives with, someone to be there with us and for us through thick and thin. When I created this site I was single. Now I am married with my own homestead and my own family. I know the importance of a partner on the homestead and in life. I also understand the importance of community during all stages of life. We need each other to thrive. This is what life is all about. So yes, look for your partner here, but also be open to creating community with everyone you meet whether they are a potential life partner or community member. We all hold value and every relationship is a benefit. You never know where you’ll end up in life and who you will come around to meeting up with again. Being kind and respectful at all times is the best way to grow and find mutual connections.

Here at Survivalist Singles we are a community of critical thinkers making the best with what we have. While we call it survival, we truly believe we can thrive in this lifestyle. Off-grid, composting, prepping for what might come are smart ways to live. We can also make this life comfortable and beautiful as well. Making a way for those that come after us. Creating a life we are in alignment with can be challenging on our own. Having a partner by your side makes a world of difference. Having a community together is even better. We can each share our skills and each of us thrive in our community. Let’s build our community and create our world in a way that benefits our environments and each other. Together we are stronger!

I encourage each of you to build your community with your neighbors in person and here online with those farther away. Knowing those close to you and being friends with them goes a long way in assuring your and your families safety later on. Knowing skills from others that may not be close is invaluable. Education never ends and never should! With a drive for community and a thirst for knowledge this community will thrive! My vision for this site is to bring together not only couples but whole communities. Let’s build this together!

Doing this site on my own is a lot of work. If there are mistakes let me know kindly and I’m happy to do what I can to fix things. I make all the graphics, articles, and build the site on my own. If you’d like to help please email me at survivalistsingles@protonmail.com Thank you so much! Let’s build this community!

planet earth

Is the Earth round, flat, or hollow?

I do enjoy these conversations so much! While I don’t feel I have a dog in this fight, I do so enjoy entertaining different thoughts and ideas, especially outside the norm. I’m a big “what if?” kind of person. I think the first reaction to new information is rejection but once the brain dust settles the fun begins! So, let’s take a look at these Earth theories and see what turns out.

Where did you land on this earth of ours? I am still undecided and I haven’t found that my life would be different knowing either way. Have you watched the full moon landing video? I did watch it and my questions would be:

  • Who was already on the moon filming before they landed?
  • Why have we not been back?
  • Since NASA claims to have lost or destroyed the documents on how to get back, how could no one replicate it since?
  • Who stayed and filmed as they took off?
  • Did anyone ever go back and get them?

Ok, I think that’s all I have on that. Let’s move along here.

Have you read the articles debunking flat earth as false? Or this ABC News brief on the topic.

Have you looked at any of Admiral Byrd’s explorations? He gave public interviews about his explorations of Antarctica. His findings could lead us to believe that perhaps our earth is flat or hollow. I find it interesting that no country on earth can agree on much but all of them agree no one should go to certain places in the arctic. I always get curious when someone is trying to hide or mislead me. Why did we suddenly stop hearing about these explorations? Why did they end? Did they end?

There is also the flat earth map that shows maybe the earth is flat and more spread out than we think, this shows more continents than what we currently are aware of. How exciting is that?! There is more world to discover and explore?! Wow! Now that would be the adventure of a lifetime! I love that thought of discovering a new to us world. I used to look at google earth really close looking for abnormalities. I suggest you try it too! I had fun and found a lot of interesting things.

Questioning the narrative can be a great exercise in critical thinking and just plain fun! I still have so many questions.

What would change about your life whether the earth is round, flat, or hollow? What would it mean to entertain the idea? Are you able to have an open discussion about topics that are new, foreign, or opposing thoughts?

I don’t think anything is answered here as much as more questions arise. However, I welcome the thought challenge and healthy respectful discussion.

What’s to Report?

stress street sign

Opening up any electronic device lately, there is a “huge” news piece. One article is more outrageous than the next. The world is falling apart! “The sky is falling! The sky is falling!” I feel tense and in fear.

When I look outside my door life is pretty much the same. We are all doing what we need to keep things moving along. I’m well aware of what’s happening in the world, however, my interactions with neighbors and friends are the same. We don’t hate each other, we all know we are all working to do the best we can with what we have.

friends shaking hands

I am finding myself being more mindful of keeping up supplies and making my own from scratch. Prices are going up on many fronts so I think “I should get more while the price is still good”. My focus has been building and strengthening relationships, connecting deeper with my family, studying herbal medicines, and supplying our own food.

This time in our history I’m more reflective and being purposeful. I hope you are too. Prepping is a great thing to do. Having close bonds with your loved ones is just another aspect of prepping or being a survivalist. Those bonds could save you later and make every moment worth it.
